Designer Cynthia Gutierrez bases her latest collection in flirty glitz and girly fun. Embracing the perks of femininity, Gutierrez brings us a line with a wink of flair amid structured grace that’s perfect for any occasion. CG by Cynthia reminds us that every woman- from moms dashing between appointments to girls on their night out- can build her wardrobe with throw-on-and-go pieces that make you feel fabulous. Her designs prove that little touches of glamour are meant for the everyday as much as they are for day-to-night.

Gutierrez has been sketching and sewing since fifteen, a passion that led her to study Fashion Design at the Universidad de las Californias Internacional (UDC) in Mexico.  Now with her own brand, she’s customized many of her pieces with a signature pink lining that promises carefree, youthful elegance is only a quick change away. Through her clothes, Gutierrez is helping you live her own advice: “Life is short… You have to enjoy every minute of it!”

In addition to CG by Cynthia, she also heads her own denim line called CG Brand Jeans.  Cynthia  is excited to share her S/S 2014 collection at Fashion Week San Diego 2013.

[custom_qoute style=”simple”]

To me Fashion is a form of expression, it is art. It´s my way of creating a world that may never exist if it wasn´t told with fabric – it’s my way of telling my view on an already existing world. Every look I send down the runway tells a story. If I am ever to make a statement, it will be through clothes. Fashion always has something to say in the most effective language which is a non-spoken language. You know when someone is getting married because of that white dress; you know when someone has suffered a loss because of that black outfit. Fashion makes people transparent.

I love Fashion because it has no borders, when you wear leggings anybody that sees you (no matter what language) understands leggings.

[accordion_toggle title=”How did you decide to pursue fashion as a career?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

Since I was a little girl I saw my mom sew, stitch, cut and pattern clothing, she is my number one influence. When I was 11 years old I came face to face for the first time with a SEVENTEEN magazine that my cousin had in her room. I would open that magazine and see these amazing clothes and style that I only wish to be part of it. Those magazines were treasures to me. When I graduated from High School I decided I would be a psychologist. I got in the University and flunked all the classes because all I could think of was what I would wear to the sessions with my patients. I then got into Business school and couldn’t make it to the second month of the course because all I could think of was what would I wear to a business meeting. It was then obvious fashion was not around me anymore, but within me. I started sewing more – creating pieces of clothing for myself. People would tell me how cute they were and how much they liked my clothes. Some of them had to have them. Finally in 2007 at the age of 24, I got into Fashion School. But schools don´t make designers, life does.

[accordion_toggle title=”What’s your dream for your career?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

One of my dreams is to dress Miroslava Duma. That someday I may open a Vogue page (or cover) and see one of my dresses in it!! That someday Sienna Miller will go to an awards show wearing CG Couture. To have a store in Rodeo Drive. That someday I will go to on TV and show my work. But my biggest dream though is to dress everyday women, that work, that cry, that fall, that get up, that nail the interview, that get the ring, that are ambitious, that feel so human, that study, that dance, that run, that sing, that dream.

[accordion_toggle title=”What do you absolutely love about being a fashion designer?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

I love that it is never over, it is ever changing. I love the adrenaline that gives me when I finish a dress. To me it´s so much fun shopping for fabrics, making the pattern and sewing. At the end you have an idea that you had made out into reality and you can actually feel it with your hands.

[accordion_toggle title=”What’s the philosophy of your brand?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

Quality, affordable, creative garments that can be worn every day. I love making jeans and purses that fit an active life style. I like innovation with a purpose. My purpose is that you make an impact and a statement in society with what you wear.

[accordion_toggle title=”What about Fashion Week San Diego are you most excited about?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

I am excited about meeting people! To see the work of others and get inspired and hopefully inspire someone. I think it is going to be so much fun. The other thing I´m really excited about, and why I applied to be a designer, is that FWSD challenges me into designing things that you would see at FWNY or FW Paris, I like how they think big and raise the bar. I like it when they expected more of me, I will get to explore other grounds in my area, get outta my comfort zone and those things always make me grow! I can´t wait to see what comes out of it!
