Keisha Audrey is a collection of sexy, bohemian and feminine women’s wear created by designer Keisha Audrey Sakata.  When Sakata is designing, she draws her inspiration from different cultures around the world. She designs for the woman who is not satisfied with the common trends, for women who want something different.  Sakata loves to use materials that are not commonly used, such as upholstery fabric and raw natural materials for clothing.

Sakata was born and raised in San Diego.  From a young age she took an interest in creative projects and fashion. She began her career studying fashion design at The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM. She graduated in 2010 with an Associate’s Degree from  FIDM and has since participated in many local runways shows debuting different collections.

Sakata is honored to be part of Fashion Week San Diego 2013 and is excited to work with the FWSD team. Her 2014 S/S collection is inspired by the nomadic cultures of India, Tibet, Africa and the Middle East. Expect bright colors and light flowing fabrics!

[custom_qoute style=”simple”]

Fashion is more than trends and fads that fade in and out. It gives you the ability to express yourself without using words. To reach into the archives of fashion and mix and match gives you complete creative freedom.

[accordion_toggle title=”How did you decide to pursue fashion as a career?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

I grew up around sewing machines and patterns, loose thread pieces and fabric scraps. My mom made every one of my Halloween costumes as a kid. It’s just in my blood. I couldn’t imagine living a life without designing.

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

There are many directions I would like to go with my career, from seeing my designs on the red carpet to getting them in magazines around the world. My main goal though is to open a shop where my clothes can be accessible to anyone.

It gives me a way to release all of my emotions and share them with the world.

[accordion_toggle title=”What’s the philosophy of your brand?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

Keisha Audrey Designs does not focus on trends, but rather on culture. We draw from the past and the present and create something that will last with the times rather than fade out in 5 years. We stick to feminine flowing fabrics and bohemian styles.

[accordion_toggle title=”What about Fashion Week San Diego are you most excited about?”]

[custom_qoute style=”single”]

I am ecstatic to be part of Fashion Week San Diego because of all the exposure it will bring, but most of all I am looking forward to meeting the other designers and being able to work with the FWSD team to better my brand.
