Sierra Mitchell
Raised in the heart of Southern California sunshine Sierra Mitchell approaches her designs as an artist sculpts with stone to reveal the figure within. There are no sketches. No neatly laid out road maps. No patterns. She designs without a safety net. Cultivated from a combination of relentless work ethic, constant study and a 15 year career as a Technical Designer and Costume Designer. Her process is free, intuitive and paired with red wine, dark chocolate, good music and pajamas while she works. Her unconventional development style yields innovative designs beautifully draped, hand cut and pristinely constructed employing classical sewing techniques handed down from her mom since before she can remember. Each piece is a methodical working of process to create a marriage between person and clothing.
