Latelier Couture by Olivia Romero is created 100% by hand with the joy of life in mind. Each piece uses bright colors that reflect the enthusiasm, optimism, and beauty of life. Designer Olivia Romero has always had a passion for sewing and fabrics. Transforming a dress or simple garment fills her with satisfaction and pride. Her pieces are elegant in style and set with important details. She believes that a great dress can make you remember that there is beauty in your life.
At the age of 16, Olivia Romero started sewing because her mom and grandmother sew. “I started to make my own clothes, but always wanted more.” Partially through college, Olivia left to follow her passion study, Haute Couture.
In 1990 Olivia Romero participated in a contest of designers in Tijuana, where she won first place with 10 evening dress designs. This led her to participate at the national level in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she also received 1st place!
In 1991 Olivia Romero was invited to participate in IMTA NY (International Model and Talent Association) where she presented 8 couture designs. She went on to win 8 medals, one for each of her designs, making her the first designer in history to win that many awards.
For ten years Olivia Romero owned a sewing and design workshop in Tijuana, where she also taught sewing and Design classes and participated in several fashion shows in the city. In 2012 she moved to Mexicali, where she opened her own private sewing and design school. Currently, Olivia Romero lives in San Diego, where she owns her own business teaching started private sewing classes and workshops.
