Held this year at Harrah’s Southern California Resort on May 14, Spring Showcase serves as the official kickoff of Fashion Week San Diego. Here’s what we learned after seeing our first look at the newest FWSD class of designers and mingling with the wonderful San Diego style community that unites around this world-class event.  (Read Affordably Accessorized Blog HERE.)

The world of fashion comes together in San Diego.

From Chicago to Arkansas and India to Africa — this year’s designers hail from literally all across the globe and continue this event’s legacy of cross-cultural representation.
What a huge honor for Fashion Week San Diego, that they are finding their style platform here in America’s Finest City.

When it comes to accessories, bigger is definitely better.

As an accessory blogger, it’s the accents and sparkle that get my heart racing.
So with multiple accessory collections being shown this year, I may need to have a game plan to not pass out come October.
From sophisticated scarves to the best in bling — Fashion Week San Diego 2016 can proudly flaunt the tag #AccessoriesOnPoint.

In fashion you are always allowed to embellish the truth — or garment.

Gold foil? Massive sequin work? Quilted panels? We saw all these and more on display across multiple lines on the Spring Showcase runway.
Is it too early to coin 2016 “the year of the embellishment”? We’ll see in the Fall!

Even our furry friends deserve a healthy dose of canine couture.

Their humans can’t have all the fun! We spotted some of the most stylish four-footed folks around, proudly showcasing looks from The Stylish Bisou — Fashion Week San Diego’s very first darling dog apparel designer.

Everyone belongs in the San Diego fashion community.

Closeknit but also warm and welcoming, our local stylesphere is a wonderful melting pot of creative self-expression.
Being somewhat of a newcomer last year, I was overwhelmingly reminded at Spring Showcase of the strong bond formed between local designers, makeup artists, hair stylists, photographers, bloggers and brands.
And who doesn’t love a supportive group of awesome people putting San Diego on the “hot list”?

Femininity is always in style, and life so much brighter when lived in color.

From flowy lace to the most vivid of hues, the girly and colorful vibes were delightfully strong. And even more so when masterfully combined (a la Timmithea)!
